Designing Smiles….Behind
the scenes
We
are off and running in 2009
and Designing Smiles has an
exciting year planned for you.
Enjoying
our 20th year in practice
After celebrating our 20th year
anniversary last fall complete
with a first class ribbon cutting
ceremony Designing Smiles and
our Team are off to a fantastic
start in 2009. Dentistry
has never been more exciting
and the lives that we get to
change act as a source of energy
that drives the Designing Smiles
engine.

New
Faces at Designing Smiles
We were fortunate to welcome
not one but two awesome new
team members last fall in our
Dental Hygiene Dept.
Jessi Nance and Brittany
Tolliver bring with
them wonderful backgrounds in
dentistry and join an already
fabulous Designing Smiles Team.
Be sure to look them up when
you are in the office.

Give
Faith a Smile Mission
For years we had been approached
about traveling to foreign countries
in order to serve those in need
far away with mission trips.
I have great respect for those
that serve in this capacity
but I have always felt that
we have such a great need right
here at home. It was with
this in mind that we started
last spring with the Give Faith
a Smile Mission.
Friday afternoons are devoted
to our mission patients, many
times single Moms with limited
ability to afford dentistry
at any level. It is our
goal to provide the highest
quality of care to these patients
and at the same time offer a
warm caring place where they
can bond and feel a sense of
belonging. Although the
dentistry is much needed and
the mission patients are very
grateful we have found that
it is our Team that has received
the greatest blessing.
Giving to someone in need may
be the most rewarding gift we
can receive.

Dr.
Jenkins on the Road again….
In February Dr. Jenkins will
travel to Richmond, VA to spend
2 weekends mentoring on the
systems involved with Cosmetic
and Reconstructive dentistry.
In October Dr. Jenkins will
accompany Dr. David Hornbrook,
renowned lecturer and Cosmetic
Dentist from San Diego at the
Univ. of Louisville Dental School
for a live patient hands on
Teaching Forum.
Dr.
Jenkins will also be joining
Dr. Mark Montgomery of Salem,
Oregon here in Southern Indiana
for a 3 day course offered to
dentists wanting to learn more
about occlusion or "the
bite". This event will
be hosted by Designing Smiles.
In
September, Dr. Jenkins will
travel to Phoenix, Arizona as
a faculty member of the Arizona
School of Dentistry and Oral
Health. He will be teaching
with newly formed Clinical Mastery
Series on the topic of Full
Mouth Reconstruction.

The
Greater Louisville Aesthetic
Masters Study Club
Our study club has become well
known Regionaly and has a membership
approaching the maximum of 30.
Now in our 3rd year the group
has expanded and grown a great
deal in dentistry. Several
new subgroups have sprung from
our original dental study club
group. We now have an
active Group of Office managers,
Dental Hygienists, and Dental
Assistants that are meeting
several times a year.
A great deal of hard work has
gone into this very special
endeavor and much praise should
go to Melinda, and Marcy.

What’s
New in Dentistry…..
Designing Smiles has recently
purchased a new laser that enables
us to take soft tissue therapy
and gum contouring to a new
level. We also have some
new materials coming our way
in March that will allow for
an even higher level natural
esthetics.
