Dennis Jenkins, DDS
Dr. Jenkins attended Indiana State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology in 1983. He spent a year pursuing a master’s degree in biochemistry while doing research at International Minerals and Chemicals in Terre Haute, IN. He then attended the Indiana University School of Dentistry in Indianapolis earning the degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1988.
Over the past 30 years Dr. Jenkins has focused on continuing his education with an emphasis on aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry. He has taught cosmetic and reconstructive dentistry to dentists from around the world at universities across the United States with Dr. Larry Rosenthal of Aesthetic Advantage and Dr. David Hornbrook, founder of the Hornbrook Group. Dr. Jenkins was also proud to be a part of the Clinical Mastery Team with Dr. Hornbook.
Dr. Jenkins has practiced in Sellersburg, IN for all of his 30 + years in the practice he so aptly named Designing Smiles, where he joins the talents of eight amazing team members to bring excellence to the practice of dentistry.
Dr. Jenkins is a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, The American Dental Association®, The Indiana Dental Association, The Southern Indiana Dental Association, The Academy of General Dentistry, and the Spear Study Club Organization.
When away from dentistry, Dr. Jenkins enjoys traveling the country with his wife of 28 years, Jolie, as they have enjoyed chasing the athletic pursuits of their two children, Devin and Gabbi. Dr. Jenkins and his family attend Northside Christian Church where they enjoy growing their faith together.
Devin played four years of collegiate golf for Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne where he received his Master’s degree in Finance. Devin and his wife, Kassie, have moved back to Southern Indiana. Kassie is a nurse at Norton Children’s Hospital and Devin is working with WesBanco.
Gabbi is a senior at Indiana University and on the softball team. She is studying education and enjoying the opportunity to work with young athletes through AIA (Athletes in Action).

I’ve always played to be the best and that attitude certainly drives me every day in dentistry. I love my team, my patients, and the challenge to make a difference each day for those that allow me to share my gift. It truly is a special profession.”

Marcy Ettel, Business Team
Marcy has been a certified Expanded Duty Dental Assistant for over 15 years and is highly qualified in many dental assistant procedures as well as radiology. In 2016, Marcy became Patient Care Coordinator due to her extensive and comprehensive knowledge of cosmetic dentistry. She works closely with Dr. Jenkins to establish a plan for helping patients achieve not only a healthy, beautiful smile, but also taking their overall health into account as well. Marcy and Dr. Jenkins take great pride in working together to provide the best dental care available for our patients. Marcy has attended numerous continuing education courses and received multiple certifications. She was on staff with the Hornbrook Group teaching institution that allows dentists and team members worldwide to learn hands on about the latest procedures in cosmetic and full mouth rehabilitation.

Brittany Pangburn, RDH
Brittany has been part of the Designing Smiles Team since graduating from the University of Louisville in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene. She is a member of the Southern Indiana Dental Association and enjoys continuing her education to provide the best care for her patients.

Kelsey Shireman, RDH
Kelsey graduated in 2018 from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Science degree in dental hygiene and joined the Designing Smiles team in 2019.
“My teammates here at Designing Smiles help me strive to be the best clinician I can be. I am constantly researching and learning about new products and the latest technology, then using that information to educate my patients. I love the connections I get to make with all my patients here in this office. It is truly a patient-based practice. I look forward to serving my patients for many more years to come!”
Hillary Blackman, Business Team
Hillary joined the Designing Smiles PSC team in 2021 as part of our business team. She completed an associate degree in respiratory therapy from Ivy Technical College. Hillary’s experience in the medical field led her to fall in love with dentistry and oral health. She has six years of experience as an assistant to one of our local oral surgeons. As a part of the business team, she schedules needed treatment and handles patient accounts along with various other responsibilites. Hillary is one of the first faces you will see as you walk through our doors. She is quick to share a smile and laugh with patients, making them feel comfortable and like a part of our family.

Samantha Konermann, DA
Samantha is a 2020 Graduate of Borden High School and Prosser Career Education Center. Samantha grew her knowledge and love for dentistry in Prosser’s Dental Careers program. When Samantha is not sitting chairside, she is studying for Dental Hygiene courses at the University of Louisville.

Nancy Smothers, EDDA
Nancy is an Expanded Duties Dental Assistant who brings experience in diverse work settings. She completed her training at MedQuest college in 2019 and jumped right into working in the field.
“My goal as an EDDA is to help people feel good about their smile. Designing Smiles is more than just a dental office. It is a dental home for our patients and my work family.”
